Charles Melton
Photographer and insect collector Charles Melton has donated many beautiful specimens to the University of Arizona Insect Collection for use in research and education. See his wildlife gallery at nearfamous.com.
Carlos Martinez
Carlos Martinez, image technician for the Moore Lab, uses the Visionary Digital system, a track-mounted DSLR camera with a macrophotography lens, to take many photos at incrementally lower focal planes. He uses software to stack and blend the slices into one perfectly focused image that is both beautiful and detailed enough for research. The University of Arizona Insect Collection images every DNA-sequenced bee specimen published on the Barcode of Life Database (BOLD).
